Leafcutter Bee Cocoons - pack of approx 75 - PICK UP ONLY
To be picked up at the Moody Bee Store June 13 & 14 between 12-6.
You will receive approximately 75 live leafcutter cocoons (measured by weight as they are harder to count than mason bee cocoons).
The cocoons will be ready to be placed in your bee house anytime after you pick them up, or on Father's Day (June 21st) at the latest. They are a summer bee, and they need it to be at least 22 degrees Celcius in order to do their work.
Leafcutter bees can use the same house as your mason bees, but do prefer a smaller tube. They will pollinate many different kinds of flowers and fruits/vegetables and are perfect for summer yards & gardens. They only travel 300 feet, and they pollinate better than honeybees.
They are gentle, and rarley sting. If they do sting, it's similar to a mosquito.
Males will typically emerge first, then the females. They will fly away and mate, then the females should return and start nesting in your bee house approximately 3-4 days later.
Crown Bees has a great website with TONS of information about raising mason bees. We highly recommend using their website to guide your experience this Spring/Summer because our store is temporarily closed, and it may be harder to reach us during this time. https://crownbees.com/super-summer-pollinators
