Hexagon native bee house with natural lake reeds - PICK UP ONLY
Our bestselling native bee house. Made with pine, and designed to be ergonomically correct for raising native bees, with an attic to hold your cocoons before they emerge.
This bee house comes with a mix of mason bee and leafcutter natural lake reeds, so you will be ready to host both types of bees. Each house contains approximately 55 tubes.
Lake reeds are the preferred home of the native bee. If you choose to harvest your cocoons in the fall, these reeds will need to be replaced next year. Typically our customers end up spending approx $10 each year on replacement tubes, but we do see a slightly higher success rate with these tubes, as opposed to the wood tray which is reuseable.
This house is made by local resident Dwight Greiner. It can be painted if you wish, but that should be done at least 1 week before you put your cocoons in it.
Please forward any questions about mason bees or butterflies to Roma at email@example.com.
